Learning outcomes: After successfully completing this module, students will: _ be familiar with and understand basic topics in building construction and architecture. _ be familiar with the connections between conception, design and building construction, as well as the historical-socio-cultural development of building construction. _ will understand construction principles, as well as the relationships between concept, design, construction task, material, system. _ be able to analyze and critically examine the works of important architects and incorporate the resulting knowledge in their designs. Personal competence: _ Students will develop and train their ability to present results in analogue or digital form. _ Students will train their ability to think and act in a conceptual, creative manner. _ Students will develop and train decision-making skills both individually and in a team. Module content: _ Introduction to building construction _ The connections between conception, design and building construction. _ Outline of the historical-sociocultural development of building construction. Differentiation in building construction types and their different materiality. _ Raising awareness for a sustainable approach to construction and the environment. _ Basic possibilities of approaching the construction of buildings and their structure and zoning. _ Analysis of relevant components such as plinth, wall, ceiling, roof and ways of designing them. _ Criteria of space formation, interior and exterior space, transitions and lighting.
