Learning outcomes:
After completing this course, students will have acquired a basic understanding of the physical quantities, equations and relationships needed to develop solutions to engineering problems. Students will be able to use physical methods to describe technical processes. The knowledge acquired in this course is a fundamental prerequisite for understanding more advanced modules in an engineering degree.

Newtonian mechanics:
Introduction to the principles of Newtonian mechanics; equations of motion; gravitation; concepts such as work and power; physics of rotational motion, moment of inertia
 
Introduction to the mechanics of fluids and gases:
Bernoulli equation
Vibrations and waves:
Mechanical and electromagnetic oscillations; free and forced vibrations; damping and attenuation; resonance; analogy between mechanical and electromagnetic vibrations; introduction to acoustics
