Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).

The total student study time is 90 hours (equivalent to 3 ECTS credits).

Learning outcomes:
Students will receive an overview of fluid mechanics. After successfully completing this course, students will be familiar with the basic hydraulic elements and will be able to combine them into simple hydraulic circuits. In addition, they will be familiar with the basic effects of steady flows and will be able to make rough calculations.

Module content:
Fluid statics
Properties of fluids, pressure propagation, application of hydrostatics, hydraulic fluids, hydraulic pumps, motors and cylinders, control units, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, hydrostatics in moving containers.
 
Fluid dynamics
Conservation laws of flow (mass, energy, momentum), trajectory and streamline, classification of flows (friction, real, ideal, time behavior dimension), model laws, characteristic numbers, pipe flows, boundary layer flows, resistance of bodies
