Learning outcomes:
After successfully completing this module, students will understand the structure of local networks and their main components.
They will be able to deal with network operating systems on the basis of a widely used system.
       They will be familiar with Windows Server 2008.
Students will understand the problems of using shared resources.
They will be familiar with and able to implement the vendor-independent management of networks.

Network access procedures

Devices for structuring local networks
Wiring
Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet
WAN technologies
Practical course on setting up local networks (hardware, communication in TCP/IP networks,..)
Directory services based on the example of Active Directory
Network operating systems using Windows Server 2008 as an example (system philosophy, architecture, installation, system administration)
Practical course on Windows Server 2008
 
Network management/monitoring with SNMP
Use of SNMP in homogeneous system environments
Practical course on network monitoring and the use of SNMP
